Bustani Farm

On the outskirts of Kisumu city is Bustani Farm; a social enterprise, started by Emerging Humanity, which creates jobs for young people in agribusiness.

• The Bustani Farm has a residence facility where youth, who have n os jobs or homes, are able to live and work.
• Youth at Bustani Farm are cultivating several acres of beans, chili peppers, cabbage and kale.
• There is also a poultry and duck farm.
• Most of the produce is sold to local women who sell and cook the food in the community market spaces.

Environmental Regeneration of Rural Kenya

The area around Kisumu is turning into desert due to loss of trees and plummeting soil fertility. The people of the area must survive on less than one dollar per day. Children often go to school hungry. We’re helping the land to become more productive by starting a large scale tree nursery and organic compost distribution center which is employing young people under the age of 25.
